40 gender identities, documented the same way as the rest of KINKSpec: plain clinical definitions, verifiable history, cited sources and the 0–100 popularity index — ranked among genders only, never against the kink catalog or the orientations vertical. Gender is who a person is, which is a different question from who they are drawn to, and different again from what they are interested in. Prevalence here comes from named surveys — Gallup, the Williams Institute, Pew, national censuses — not from estimates. Read those figures with their population attached: several of the genders below are specific to one country or people, so their percentages describe Samoans, or Albanians, or respondents to a Japanese panel, and the index does not rescale them against one another.
Man and woman, and the term for those whose gender matches their sex assigned at birth.
